Sandun Hapugoda (Country Manager - Sri Lanka & Maldives Mastercard)

Sandun Hapugoda has over 20 years of experience in Banking and Payments Industry and currently operates as the Country Manager in Sri Lanka and Maldives for Mastercard. Previously, Sandun held positions of Director of Account Management and Head of Digital Payments for Mastercard in Sri Lanka and Maldives. Prior to joining Mastercard, Sandun was the Head of Payments & Cash Management for Hatton National Bank. He has also led the digital banking team at the Bank earlier. Prior to joining HNB he has played managerial roles at Amana Bank, ICICI Bank Sri Lanka and Sampath Bank in different areas such as Information Security & Risk, IT management and Card Operations. He has led several digital financial innovations in Sri Lanka and South Asia region throughout his career.

Sandun currently serves as a member of the board of directors at American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka. He also served in several committees appointed by Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ministry of Technology, National Science Foundation, and other institutions to share his expertise in Payments, Digital Banking, Fintechs, Blockchain Technologies and Open Banking to uplift the Digital Economy.

Sandun holds a B.Sc. honors degree in Information Technology from Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology and a M.Sc. in Technology Management from Staffordshire University, UK. He is also a fellow member of the Institute of Certified Professional Managers of Sri Lanka.
