Ananda S. Premachandra - Independent Consultant

Mr. Ananda S Premachandra who has over four decades of experience in the maritime field joined the Sri Lanka Ports Authority as a Management trainee and held various management positions ending his career there as the Managing Director in 2021. During this period, he also worked for few years as the Terminal coordinator at Port of Fujairah and as the head of Container operations department of West ports of Malaysia.

He Joined CMA CGM SA and its Terminal operating companies as the regional manager (ports and Terminals -Asia) in 2002 and worked for 13 years based in Malaysia India and South Korea. During this period, he was instrumental in negotiating Terminal investments, master planning of port and terminal facilities, designing Terminals and optimizing terminal designs, handling large scale terminal equipment and systems procurements, commissioning of terminal operations including automated facilities advising terminals on improving performance and profitability in various countries where the shipping company had strategic interests.

In his role as an international port consultant, he provided consultancy services to Adani International port holdings to design develop and commission the Colombo West International Terminal and Transition of Tanzania East Africa Gateway Terminal in Dar Es Salam Tanzania. Mr .Premachandra currently works as a consultant for the Colombo port and Logistics development project funded by the World Bank and he is a registered consultant at the ADB as well.
