Director - Hayleys Free Zone
Amal Rodrigo is responsible for one of the largest investment of Hayleys Advantis, Hayleys Free Zone Limited (AFZ) for 5 years and was a frontrunner in establishing this new concept in Sri Lanka from day one, which operates under ‘Advantis Free Zone’, taking Advantis 3PL in to an international platform. AFZ is a fully owned subsidiary of Hayleys Advantis Ltd (www.hayleysadvantis.com), which is the transportation and logistics arm of diversified conglomerate of Hayleys Plc (www.Hayleys.com) with a proud history expanding over 140 years.
Before joining Hayleys Group, Amal served in A.P Moller Maersk group for 20 years in various leadership positions in Denmark, UK and Sri Lanka. He was responsible for Maersk Logistics in Sri Lanka and Maldives as Country Manager for 4 years and Maersk Line Sri Lanka and Maldives for 6 years as Country Manager as well as holding regional sales management responsibility within Indian cluster. Amal started his career in a commercial bank in International trade services sector for 4 years prior joining Maersk group.
Amal holds a MBA in Global Marketing and International Sales Management from Edinburg Napier University-UK and post graduate from MCE-Belgium on Management and Finance. He is also a Chartered member of the chartered Institute of Logistics and transport (CILT) –UK. He has served in CILT council for over 7 years, American Chamber of Commerce Board for 3 years as board member, Treasurer and the Secretary. Apart from that served in many trade associations in Shipping and freight forwarding including CASA, SLAVO and SLCA. He is currently part of the shipper’s council, Logistics advisory committee to the government through Export Development Board and the hub association Executive committees. His hobbies includes carpentry, gardening, reading, walking and listening to music.
