Mrs. Tania Polonnowita Wettimuny is a past Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Forwarders Association which is the apex body of the Freight & Logistics industry in Sri Lanka. The first Female to hold such as position in the Indian sub-continent in the freight industry.
Mrs. Wettimuny is also the former Managing Director of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics (Pvt) Ltd, a German based family owned Logistics Company currently ranked 10th in the world in Freight Forwarding & Logistics with an annual turnover of 3. 10 billion Euro's with 457 offices in 157 countries worldwide. She was instrumental in developing the Hellmann brand in Sri Lanka & taking the business to the next level.
Mrs. Wettimuny stepped down from the Board of Hellmann to become an entrepreneur. Currently Mrs. Wettimuny is the Group Managing Director & local partner of IAS Holdings (Pvt) Ltd which has over 5 subsidiaries - 150 direct staff, that represent many multinational Logistics companies in Sri Lanka.
She was ranked 40th among the most 50 powerful businesswomen in Sri Lanka by Echelon Magazine in 2014 . Mrs. Wettimuny is also the recipient of Gold award in category of Supply Chain management by Women in Management – WIM in association with IFC – part of the world bank Group in 2016.
She is also the immediate Vice Chairperson of the Council for Business in Britain (CBB) & current Treasure of the CBB . She is also an active member of the executive committees such, Sri Lanka Italy Business Council (SLItBC), Women’s Chamber of Commerce (WCC), Women in Logistics & Transport (WiLAT) & Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association ( WISTA). She is also a member of Zonta Colombo 111.
