Sarathkumara Premachandra started his career in 1978 as a Management trainee and held the positions of the Chief Operations Manager, Director (operations) and the Additional Managing Director at the Sri Lanka Ports Authority before joining CMA CGM group in 2002. He also served at the Port of Fujairah and Westport of Malaysia in Senior Management positions. He has wide experience in working with a multitude of ports in many countries on Terminal investment and efficiency enhancement on behalf of CMA CGM. He was the Regional Manager of CMA Terminals in Asia in addition to being the Technical Consultant for CMA CGM Malaysia till 2016, when he took over as the Managing Director of Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

Currently, he is the Director/CEO of Laugfs Terminals Ltd., which is part of the LAUGFS Gas PLC group, and has set up one of the largest LPG Transshipment Terminals in South Asia at the Hambantota Port.
